Stress

posted Mar 16, 2016 18:04:50 by Jordan G
What do you do to relieve stress? I like to go for walks in the woods with my dog to relieve stress. Being out in nature really makes my mood so much better and really energizes me. It helps to get me out of a funk and puts my life in perspective. I am so much happier when I am out in nature. What do you do?

I have recently learned about meditating. I am far from an expert, but I do find that when I take 20 minutes to just quiet my mind and calm my breathing I can greatly calm my nerves and better handle the issues of the day.

At the moment, I don't have a solution for my stress, but I need to get a handle on it quickly. I am under a lot of pressure right now and I go through my days feeling like I'm going to burst. Sarah, where have you learned about meditation? I know many people swear by it, but I don't know how to get started.

I retired! I was under so much stress at work I had an ulcer. It was not pretty. Since I retired, I take my book and a glass of wine to my back deck and listen to the waves crash on the shore while I read. I think stress is the number one killer today. Do whatever you have to do to get rid of it.

Most of the time I use exercise as a stress reliever although I also love hiking to relieve stress. When I don't feel like doing physical exercise, I normally just listen to some music.

Great question since I have been under a lot of stress lately! One thing I always enjoy doing is listening to some smooth jazz and drinking a glass of wine. I just kind of sit back in my favorite chair, let the music wash over me, and just chill.

I recently learned how to do Tai Chi and I love it. It is very low impact and just completely de-stressing and I would recommend it to anyone. I tend to be alone with my thoughts when I do it and it helps relax me so much!

I take a break. I can't focus and do anything properly if my mood is really low, so I just take a break and do things I enjoy. Sometimes I go eat my favorite food, sometimes I rent old movies, sometimes I play around with my friends, other times I just stay inside and rest.
