Common Core

I have seen a lot of people complaining about this sort of system where we teach our kids at the federal level. I guess it has the feeling of being robotic and programmed, but I really don't see much difference from a local standpoint. Creativity is never something sought out for in students and in the end, it is only test scores that will get them into higher education. We are forcing kids to go to school without them even wanting to be there and it is making our world terrible in my opinion. Kids need to realize that they should discover their passion and make a living off doing what they love.

There's a lot more to common core than you realize. Many LEA's have decided not to use this and go back to the normal way of teaching. I see, in our future, one or two teachers per course being broadcast over a television monitor from a central location with a facilitator or assistant in each classroom. Think of the money saved on certified teachers. Think of the kind of education our kids will be getting. Kind of stinks doesn't it?

Our educational system is a train wreck. Despite having mountains of proof that shows how children learn best, we continue to treat them like cows in a cattle drive. Learning is not a one-size-fits-all type of thing. I homeschool my daughter and I know for a fact that if she was in a traditional school, she wouldn't be excelling as much as she does at home.
