NWS says "No More Caps"

posted Apr 13, 2016 02:43:26 by JamesG2252
The National Weather Service will no longer be using all caps in their weather alerts and forecast discussions. I say it is about time! I never used to understand why their alerts were in all caps. Despite all caps being indicative of yelling, it is also hard on the eyes to read. What do you all think about this change?

WOAH! A big corporation making a change? No way! Well honestly it doesn't make much of a difference but I'm with you on the yelling part of it. And that it makes it a pain to read. I don't think it is necessarily harder to read except the fact you are thinking you have to read it, so you try really hard.

Well. It's about time All caps has always meant SHOUTING to me. I tend to take offense at anyone who "all caps" me. I do understand the reason behind it with the NWS but the same messages can be delivered without the caps.
