Witches Next Door

posted Jun 21, 2016 14:16:07 by MikeyMandel
I learned recently that there is a coven of witches that practice Wicca next door to me. They are fantastic neighbors, so I'm not bothered by it. I actually was invited to their ceremony last night celebrating the Summer Solstice. It was actually pretty cool. I am a Christian so I don't believe what they believe, but I certainly can appreciate the beauty of their faith. It was a very organic experience, very in-tune with nature. I liked that part of it a lot.

That's an interesting news. It's rare to see people practicing the old ways so openly like that, especially because the history always paints them as scary and unfriendly. That is wonderful if you can live next to each other with respect to the different beliefs. Other than their practices, do you notice anything else different about them?

That is very cool! I am a non-denominational Christian, but I have always been fascinated by other faiths and practices. It started with my best friend in college, who was Jewish and invited me to her family's Passover Seder. I found it absolutely beautiful! Then I took a comparative religions class and was truly hooked. Since most of the world's religions follow the same most basic tenets (treat others the way you want to be treated, respect your home/earth/family, do no wrong) I think we all basically end up in the same place.

AllMine, they are great neighbors. I did not notice anything different about them, ever. The fact that I discovered they practice Wicca doesn't change the fact that we have always enjoyed a friendly relationship, and will continue to do so.

That's really crazy! I have met a few people a few years ago that practiced, but they were extremely odd prior to me finding out of them practicing Wicca, so I'm glad to know that there are some normal people out there too! What was the celebration like? I'm so curious.
