Contagious cancer?

posted Jun 30, 2016 15:43:30 by RedSeol
Scientists recently discovered a type of cancer which spreads among a species of shellfish. You can read the full article here. There are other similar cases found in other animals. The scientists say this may help us to understand cancers in humans better. Hopefully this means we are one step closer to cancer cure or vaccine.

I am not sure we will ever find a "cure" for cancer since the big pharmaceutical companies make so much money off keeping us sick. I know that sounds like I'm a conspiracy theorist, but pharmaceutical companies are way too involved in the American political system, and it is pretty much understood that the Food and Drug Administration is in big pharma's back pocket. I just don't trust them to do what is right for the people.

@Cookie77227, Call me naïve, but I believe that up to certain point humanity still cares about seriously finding cure for the diseases because we all dream of good health for a long time. I don't deny that some of the drugs don't work like what they tell us, but I think science is a bit more pure than that.
