Do you have a penpal?

posted Jul 08, 2016 13:43:57 by RedSeol
I know we're no longer in that era of writing letters, but I'm proud to say that I have penpals! There are several friends I talk to via e-mail and we've been doing this for more than 5 years, even though we've never met in real life. We're looking forward for more years to come.

I used to have a bunch of penpals about ten years ago, but now I find it hard to get anyone to want to do this. How have you found your penpals, RedSol? I would love to start writing to someone again.

I have some penpals! We send letters and parcels to each other. I always feel very delighted when I receive letters. Although most people nowadays don't send snail mails, I really enjoy this tradition.

Most of my communication is limited to e-mail and and on-line activity. My main hobby and interests are related to ham radio related sites and social networking activities. I like to keep in touch and over the years I have been fairly active.

I had penpals a long time ago but I just don't have the time for that right now. I can barely keep in touch with long-distance family the way that I should, let alone be in touch with someone "for fun", which is always how I viewed having a penpal.

I never had a penpal, but my sister did. Cynthia was my sisters's penpal for over sixty years. She was English, and finally, years after their initial correspondence, Cynthia came here to the United States to visit, and then my sister visited her in England. They traded stories of their families and ups and downs throughout the years. Cynthia, unfortunately, passed away last year. My sister was devastated.
